Reinforcement of the soil base and re-leveling of floor slabs in an automated warehouse premises

Problem:

During the development of the project for the improvement of industrial warehouses and the introduction of automated storage systems, there was a need for an additional survey of the ground base for the perception of new values of point and distributed loads on the floor slab. After the survey and collection of loads, the insufficient load-bearing capacity of the base soil was determined. A series of geodetic surveys was also performed to identify critical irregularities in the floor slab.

Foundation:

Monolithic reinforced concrete floor slab with a thickness of 200-400 mm.

Task:

Strengthen the ground soil, re-level the floor slab in a horizontal plane with a tolerance of ±4 mm (height difference) by 8 m.

Decision:

Before starting the work on strengthening the base, a set of works was carried out to determine the density of the soil base and identify low-bearing horizons of the soil thickness. The 0-th Geomonitoring cycle was also performed to determine surface differences. To solve the problem of strengthening the base soils, the deep Lifting method was chosen. All work was carried out inside the building (grappling), injection was performed in several levels, strictly vertically. The Floor lifting method was chosen for re-leveling the floor. Injection was also performed by grappling, strictly in one direction. After the completion of the work on strengthening the foundation soil and re-leveling the floor slab, a set of geodetic works was performed to install control marks for further observation and annual Geomonitoring. Subsequent surveys showed no changes in the levels of control marks.
